Skateboarding is a way of seeing urban space as a field for expression, a territory to be appropriated and reinvented. It is through skateboarding that Irvin Heller's vision has been forged, leading him to take a different look at the city and its constituent details on a daily
basis. Through his photographs, he invites us to play his usual game: to consider the components that inhabit our streets as formal and material entities; to question their actual and potential functions. Treated as subjects and sublimated in this way, these familiar elements shapes, taken from street furniture or French and foreign architecture, become sculptures or autonomous graphic compositions.
The inventory presented here highlights a whole repertoire of artefacts that "draw images" in the city, encouraging us to re-enchant the ordinary.
