Mrs. Steadyrockerson - Chen Yifan
Mrs. Steadyrockerson is my third work and a stream-of-consciousness prose, surreal imagery, and philosophical inquiry. It challenges traditional narratives and urges readers to confront the discomfort of abstraction and the uneasiness of introspection. The text grapples with the paradoxes of modern life: the simultaneous desire for connection and isolation, the fragility of progress, and the ever-present question - how do we solve problems when the solutions themselves are flawed? In a world full of contradictions, progress often feels like regression, and clarity is obscured by complexity. Mrs. Steadyrockerson becomes a bold literary experiment. It explores the primal intersection of identity, language, and the human condition. It oscillates between philosophical contemplation and inner stream of consciousness while the tone shifts quickly from frustration and cynicism to moments of vulnerability and surreal intimacy. Ultimately, Mrs. Steady suggests that modern attempts to solve problems whether through technology, appearances, or fleeting moments of intimacy only serve to deepen this disconnect.
The story follows two young women, Jane and the brunette, as they encounter a new wave of problems: icky feet, and their journey through the woods to find a modern solution.
