Jongno host is a photobook bringing together photographs taken with an iPhone across Jongno, Seoul, from 2017 to 2025. The book traces the landscapes, sensations, and fragments of time accumulated through one person’s long experience of living in the same city.

Every scene begins in Jongno. The artist lived and worked there, walking the same routes each day. Rather than following a specific plan or purpose, the photographs emerged
from moments when her gaze unexpectedly came to rest. The stream near her home, the fountain in front of Cheong Wa Dae, familiar alleyways and bus interiors, people on the street, discarded objects, and fleeting traces of light gradually became images.

The iPhone plays an essential role in the work. Instead of taking out a heavy camera, the artist photographed with the device already in her hand. As a result, the images are more
spontaneous than planned, and more raw and imperfect than polished. Precisely because of this, the images preserve the time and atmosphere encountered of everyday life.

Jongno host's gaze is not only directed toward beautiful scenery. It captures with how easily overlooked moments remain in memory: slightly awkward yet tender encounters, scenes that are amusing but difficult to forget, and emotions that resist explanation. Over time, the artist revisited these private records and organized them into thirty chapters, allowing seemingly unrelated images to form a continuous flow.
