Gay Guerrilla: L'histoire de Julius Eastman is the first French-language book dedicated to the groundbreaking American composer, pianist and singer Julius Eastman. Emerging from the experimental music scene of 1970s New York, Eastman collaborated with artists including John Cage, Arthur Russell and Meredith Monk, while developing an uncompromising body of work that confronted racial and social conventions.

Edited by Renée Levine Packer and Mary Jane Leach, with a foreword by Devonté Hynes, this collection of biographical and critical writings retraces Eastman’s artistic journey, his marginalisation and the posthumous rediscovery of his work. It offers an essential portrait of a singular figure in American avant-garde music.
