A Nice Magazine #3
First published in 2014 as part of editor Hanna Moon’s final project at CSM, the name poked fun at the over-saturation and mundanity of magazines lazily labelled as ‘nice.’ With an emphasis on fashion, lifestyle and photography, the first edition of A Nice Magazine was a significant catalyst in the launch of Moon’s photography career, attracting attention from well-established titles, including Dazed and i-D, that shared her passion for photographing youth subcultures.
Returning after an eight year hiatus, the seed for the third issue of A Nice Magazine was first planted in 2019, inspired by a visit to a retrospective of Dorothea Tanning’s work. Themed ‘Me, Myself, and I,’ the issue centres the work of female photographers including Momo Okabe, Hanayo, and Claire Barrow; a conversation between the queer artist and former sex worker Cammie Toloui and Moffy Gathorne Hardy; and a feature by curator and lecturer Shonagh Marshall exploring female agency.
