A Choreographer's Handbook is a zine which shares a title with its original by Jonathan Burrows, a choreographer with a career as a soloist at The Royal Ballet in London, and a body of work which straddles the line between dance, music, performance art. It addresses both the technical and philosophical aspects of making dance, encouraging artists to interrogate their intentions, and the relationship between movement and meaning.
The zine is for anyone interested in making performance. Containing excerpts drawn from his notebooks of over five years of workshop discussions, there are a range of exercises and meditations on scores to allow you to find your own aesthetic process.
